AWANA 2013-2014 Video

June 1, 2014

We just finished our first full year of AWANA, and we had such a fantastic time! The most exciting news to report is we had 2 children accept Jesus as their Savior and Lord! Praise God!  AWANA is jam-packed each week as we participate in counsel time, handbook time, and game time.

This year in counsel time the kids learned how to share the gospel with their friends by using the wordless book. Ask any of our AWANA kids to share the wordless book with you and you will get a clear presentation of the gospel!

In handbook time this year, we had a total of 34 books completed! Each book averages 73 verses per book! That’s a lot of memorized scripture. On our second to last night of AWANA this year, I threw out scripture references and it was amazing how well the kids could recite the verses without any preparation!

AWANA is all about FUN! In addition to game time, we also had many themed nights. Some of the themes were: Crazy Hair/Hat night, Pajama night, Treasure Hunt night, Have a Heart night, Fun in the Son night, Bible Hero night, and Fruit of the Spirit night.

Lastly, we also supported our missionaries and some charities this year. With the help of the family at Main Street Church, we collected 80 shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child and 271 pairs of shoes for the Shoeman Water Project! We also collected canned food for Oasis for our Souper Bowl party in January.

We are already looking forward to next year, which is slated to begin the first week of August. We are looking for some volunteers to help serve next year. We are in need of two enthusiastic people to run our game time, and we are in need of counsel time leaders as well. If you are interested in serving in AWANA, please contact me, Susan Prichard at 314-791-4681.
